There are 3 ways to renew your motor vehicle registration

Vehicle Renewal By Mail

What you will need:

• Proof of current Kentucky liability insurance. Note: The effective date on the proof of insurance card must be within 45 days of the day the work is processed.

• Renewal Notice, received in the mail.

• If your address has changed, please call before mailing so your tax district can be verified.

• If registration is past due or there are delinquent taxes on other vehicles, renewal must be paid in person.

• All renewals are subject to a $2.00 postage and handling fee that must be included per each renewal.

Vehicle Renewal In Person

What you will need:

• Current Kentucky insurance card, if you’re insurance cannot be verified by computer. Verification depends on your company’s compliance with Kentucky’s Mandatory Insurance Law. Note: The effective date on the proof of insurance card must be within 45 days of the day the card is presented to the clerk.

• Renewal Notice, received in the mail.

• Customers must make clerks aware of any address or ownership changes.

Delinquent Taxes on other vehicles in customers name will prohibit the renewal of any vehicle.

Vehicle Renewal Online

ONLINE RENEWAL

• Customers may renew motor vehicles licensed with a variety of passenger plates.

• Leased vehicles or customers with address changes cannot renew through the internet.

• Customers must have their license plate number and Kentucky title number to renew.

• Customers must pay their registration fees with a Visa or MasterCard and are subject to a processing fee.

• Customers must pay a $2.00 postage and handling fee per vehicle renewed online.
